hi, hello!
this is my artist statement;

“i’m tiphanie brooke.
i like to fuck things up and rip images apart.
i’m into my boyfriend, analysis, all forms of violence, and making it to last call on the weekends.
when i am drinking, i am definitely drinking too much.
i like kentucky bourbon and “independent” hip-hop.
i do whatever.”

antigirl is a brand created by artist and designer tiphanie brooke in her teens. over the last decade, her brand and body of work achieved both national and international recognition and an army of admirers.

she is a multidisciplinary graphic artist who works, lives, and studies in phoenix, arizona. she uses her own concoction of traditional materials as well as techniques that only the luxuries of modern technology can afford. her repertoire includes design/print, illustration, photography, painting, screen printing and a final touch with adobe creative suite. she has a taste for using digitally altered organic works and as such her work raises more questions than it seeks to answer on what is real; lending itself to the development and evolution of a fresh new language of artistic expression with relevance.

tiphanie is never not working on antigirl, using her grind as a mirror image of herself. never shy to share a glimpse of her studio, photos of her work from start to finish, are beautiful peeks into her creative process with an artistic presentation, no matter the medium. she works on all types of projects for her clients – specializing in illustration, brand identity/strategy, editorial design and graphic design. some of her clients include; teen vogue, the new york times, showtime networks, computer arts magazine (uk), suicide girls, automata studios, elemente magazine (can), nylon magazine, and the new yorker.

tiphanie’s work has been in shows from belgium to the bay. her hand sewn babylon beware book gained global notoriety in 2005 while appearing at computerlove for cpluv:offline in brussels, belgium. her first solo show, “tart”, exhibited at uppercase gallery in calgary, canada and featured the debut of her series “women”. she continued to show the iconic “women” series at the ann street gallery in new york and the undercurrent arts in miami in 2007 and 2008.

in 2009, her hearts collection (2008 – 2010) transformed into large installation pieces, with the first public showing at phoenix design week (aiga). shortly after its debut tiphanie adapted these pieces for both public and private—collectors and clients. she began experimenting with manual photography and spent as much time in the dark room as possible. in april 2010 she won an award for a deconstructed photo she took for an assignment, which was displayed at the phoenix art museum.

for the rest of the antigirl decade she is continuing her collection of “hearts”, and working on large format mixed media panels, installation pieces and murals… all of which were shown in february 2011 at the phoenicia association. it was one of phoenicia association’s most successful night in art sales and audience.

she’s currently available for all sorts of assignments.
